DYFI Protesters Arrested During Demonstration Against Samsung in Tirupur

DYFI members were arrested during a protest against Samsung in Tirupur. The demonstration, held on 60 Feet Road, condemned the company's handling of workers' demands and alleged misuse of police force.

Tirupur: Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were arrested in Tirupur during a protest against Samsung Electronics. The demonstration, which took place in front of the Samsung showroom on 60 Feet Road, turned into a roadblock, leading to the arrest of 25 protesters.

The DYFI organized the protest to condemn Samsung's alleged indifference towards its workers who have been staging demonstrations for the past month. The protesters accused the company of disregarding labor union rights and criticized the use of police force to dismantle protest tents supporting the workers.

The demonstrators also expressed outrage over the midnight arrests of workers, claiming they were treated like criminals. As the protest intensified, participants sat down in the middle of the road, blocking traffic.

This act of civil disobedience prompted the police to intervene, resulting in the arrest of 25 DYFI members who were forcibly removed from the scene.

The incident highlights the ongoing tension between Samsung and its workers in Tirupur, with labor rights activists accusing the company of ignoring legitimate demands and using heavy-handed tactics to suppress dissent. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Samsung will address the workers' concerns and resolve the escalating conflict.
