Two arrested for attempting to sell Ganja in Sulur

Police arrested two men from Theni and Kerala for attempting to sell 14 kg of ganja worth Rs 1,40,000 in Sulur, Coimbatore. The suspects were caught based on a tip-off.


Coimbatore: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Sulur police arrested two individuals for attempting to sell ganja in the area. The operation was carried out based on confidential information received by the police about the illegal activity.

On October 7, a special police team conducted a search operation near Muthugoundan Pudur in the Sulur police station limits. During the operation, they apprehended two suspects who were caught in possession of ganja intended for sale.

The arrested individuals were identified as Selvam (45) from Theni district and Pradeep (45) from Kerala. The police seized 14 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 1,40,000 from their possession. Additionally, a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler used by the suspects were also confiscated.

Following their arrest, both Selvam and Pradeep were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. The Sulur police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to uncover potential links to larger drug networks in the region.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb drug trafficking and distribution in the district. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trade in their localities.
