POCSO Case Filed Against North Indian Youth for Sexually Harassing 8th Grade Student in Coimbatore's Rathinapuri

A POCSO case has been registered against a youth from Uttar Pradesh for sexually harassing an 8th-grade student in Rathinapuri, Coimbatore. The police are currently investigating the incident.


Coimbatore: An 8th-grade student from Sivananda Colony, Rathinapuri area, and a 21-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh, who was living in the neighboring house, had reportedly been in a relationship for the past month.

Yesterday (October 4), when the student was alone at home, the two met in private. During this encounter, the youth allegedly sexually harassed the minor girl. The incident was interrupted when the girl's parents unexpectedly returned home, causing the youth to flee the scene.

Shocked by the incident, the student's parents filed a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Gandhipuram, Kattur. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are conducting an investigation.

Furthermore, two individuals who were staying with the accused youth have also fled. The police have managed to apprehend one of them and are questioning him to gather information about the absconding youth. The investigation is ongoing to locate and arrest the main accused in this case.
