Sudden Hailstorm Surprises Parts of Coimbatore

Unexpected hailstorm hit several areas in Coimbatore, including Thudiyalur, Goundampalayam, and Periyanaickenpalayam, bringing joy to residents after many years. The phenomenon occurred amidst Chennai Meteorological Department's forecast of light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu.



Coimbatore: In an unexpected turn of events, parts of Coimbatore experienced a sudden hailstorm on Tuesday, bringing delight to residents who witnessed this rare phenomenon after several years. The affected areas included Thudiyalur, Goundampalayam, Periyanaickenpalayam, and Narasimhanaickenpalayam.

The Chennai Meteorological Department had earlier forecasted light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in various districts of Tamil Nadu from October 3 to 5, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some places. While many parts of Tamil Nadu have been experiencing increased heat, Coimbatore saw overcast conditions by afternoon following a sunny morning.

Around 1:00 PM, several areas in Coimbatore began receiving rainfall. Notably, Periyanaickenpalayam area witnessed a sudden hailstorm accompanied by strong winds, much to the surprise and joy of the local population.



The unexpected hailstorm provided a welcome relief from the prevailing hot weather conditions. Residents of the affected areas expressed their happiness at experiencing this rare weather event, which they hadn't seen in many years.



As the hailstorm caught many off guard, it also served as a reminder of the changing weather patterns and the importance of staying prepared for sudden climatic shifts. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised residents to take necessary precautions during such unexpected weather events.
