Bharathiar University Invites Applications for Key Administrative Positions

Bharathiar University has invited applications for Registrar and Controller of Examinations posts. Over 20 applications received for each position, with senior professors among the applicants.

Coimbatore: Bharathiar University has recently issued a notification inviting applications for the positions of Registrar and Controller of Examinations on a tenure basis. According to university sources, the announcement has attracted significant interest, with several senior professors and faculty members from affiliated colleges submitting their applications.

The notification specifies that both positions are for a three-year term. For the Registrar post, applicants must be at least 50 years old but not older than 55 at the time of application. No lower age limit has been set for the Controller of Examinations role.

University sources report that over 20 applications have been received for each post, with candidates including senior-level professors from within the university. The first year of service for the selected candidates will be considered a probationary period, and continuation in the role will be subject to a satisfactory performance review by the Syndicate.

College heads have expressed relief at this move, highlighting the importance of filling tenure posts in other departments as well. They emphasized the need to address delays in appointing officials for roles in the School of Distance Education, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Curriculum Development Cell, and Research and Development Centre.

While the effort to fill these positions is seen as overdue, it has been welcomed by the academic community. A senior professor noted that the university's administration had been significantly affected by delays in decision-making since the departure of full-time Vice-Chancellor P. Kaliraj in October 2022.

The filling of these key administrative positions is expected to streamline the university's operations and improve its overall functioning. The selection process and subsequent appointments will be closely watched by the academic community in Coimbatore.
