Pollachi Railway Station Passengers Suffer as Reservation Counter Closes Without Notice

Sudden closure of one reservation counter at Pollachi Railway Station causes inconvenience to passengers. Railway users and welfare associations demand immediate reopening of the counter.

Coimbatore: Passengers at Pollachi Railway Station faced unexpected difficulties as one of the two reservation counters was abruptly closed without prior notice. The closure has led to significant inconvenience for travelers seeking to book tickets for various destinations.

Pollachi, an important industrial town in Coimbatore district, serves as a crucial railway junction connecting Southern districts, Coimbatore, Chennai, and Northern states. Thousands of people from Pollachi, Anamalai, Valparai, and surrounding areas regularly utilize the train services from this station.

The station previously operated two reservation counters to cater to the high volume of passengers.

However, the sudden closure of one counter has resulted in longer queues and extended waiting times for those looking to make advance bookings.

This has particularly affected tourists heading to popular destinations like Valparai, as well as regular commuters from the Coimbatore district.

The situation is expected to worsen as additional trains to Southern districts and Northern states are scheduled to be introduced soon, potentially increasing passenger footfall. Railway users and welfare associations have expressed their concerns over the unexpected closure and its impact on the public.

In response to the growing discontent, railway welfare association officials and members of the public have urged the railway administration to immediately reopen the closed reservation counter. They emphasize that this action is necessary to alleviate the current hardships faced by passengers and to ensure smooth operations at the Pollachi Railway Station.
