Sri Adimangala Vinayagar Temple in Coimbatore's Kavundampalayam Celebrates 15th Year Anniversary

The Sri Adimangala Vinayagar Temple in Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore, celebrated its 15th anniversary and Mahalaya Amavasya festival. The event featured a Siva Kalasa Maha Siva Yagna with 51 families participating, along with Thirukalyanam and Thiruveedhi Ula.


Coimbatore: The Sri Adimangala Vinayagar Temple in Siva Nagar, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore, celebrated its 15th anniversary and Mahalaya Amavasya festival with great fervor. The highlight of the celebration was a grand Siva Kalasa Maha Siva Yagna, in which 51 families from the area participated.

The festival began on the first day with a cleansing ritual, followed by Valli Kummi and other rural cultural programs. On the main day, the festivities started at 5 AM with Thirupalli Ezhuchi (wake-up call for the deity). Subsequently, the 51 Siva Kalasa Maha Siva Yagna commenced.



The 51 families participating in the yagna brought offerings including rice, gingelly oil, yagna materials, flower garlands, loose flowers, ghee, clothing, abhishekam items, coconuts, fruits, lemons, betel leaves, and areca nuts. They actively took part in the puja ceremonies.

The rituals were conducted by Peror Santhalinga Marudhasala Adigalar, Chinnavedampatti Ramananda Kumaragurupar Swamigal, and Senjeri Malai Muthu Sivarama Swami Adigalar. Following this, the holy bath ceremony (Punitha Neerattu Vizha) was performed for Arulmiku Mangalanayaki Udanmar Mangaleeswarar, Adimangala Vinayagar, Veeravara Anjaneyar, Vishnu Durgai, and the deities in the surrounding shrines.

The celebrations continued with Alangara Vazhipadu (decorated worship), Sri Mangalambikai Udanmar Mangaleeswarar Peruman Thirukalyana Utsavam (divine wedding ceremony), and Swami Thiruveedhi Ula (temple procession). Annadanam (free food distribution) was carried out continuously from morning till evening.

The event was organized by the temple administration committee, Pradosha worship group, Pournami women's group, and local residents. A large number of devotees from Goundampalayam and surrounding areas participated in the festivities and received darshan of the deities.
