Leema Rose Martin Donates Rs 9 Crore for Social Welfare; Honored by Rotary Club

Leema Rose Martin donated Rs 9 crore for social causes, including Rs 2 crore for Wayanad disaster relief and Rs 7 crore for CCTV installation in Coimbatore. Rotary Club honored her with a scepter for her philanthropic efforts.


Coimbatore: Leema Rose Martin, a prominent philanthropist, has been honored by the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Rotary Club for her generous donation of Rs 9 crore towards social welfare causes. The recognition ceremony took place during a Rotary Club event held at Kalaignar Karunanidhi College in Coimbatore.

Leema Rose Martin, representing the Martin Foundation, attended the TRF (The Rotary Foundation) seminar titled "Flowers of Hope" as the chief guest. The seminar focused on raising funds for various social services, including women's empowerment and environmental protection.

During the event, Leema Rose Martin was presented with a ceremonial scepter in recognition of her outstanding community service. The honor was bestowed by senior advocate and Rotary Governor Sundar Vadivelu, along with advocate Murugambal and former governors.

Upon receiving the scepter, Leema Rose Martin addressed the gathering and detailed her philanthropic contributions. She mentioned that the Martin Group, through the Rotary Club, had donated Rs 2 crore to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for those affected by disasters in Wayanad.

Furthermore, she elaborated on the "Mission Rumi - 2024" project, a collaboration between the Martin Foundation and Space Zone India. Under the guidance of scientist Mylswamy Annadurai, India's first reusable hybrid rocket has been developed with the involvement of 6,000 government school students. The project received a funding of Rs 4 crore to enhance the skills of government school students.

Leema Rose Martin also highlighted that a total of Rs 9 crore has been donated through Future Gaming Hotels (P) Ltd for various community services. This includes Rs 7 crore for the installation of CCTV cameras in Coimbatore under the Namakku Naame scheme.

The event was attended by several notable personalities, including Platinum Chair Circle Ravishankar, Gowri Rajan and Pubudu de Zoysa from Sri Lanka, Sakunthala Raha from Rotary Foundation (India) RI South Asia Office, former minister Pongalur Palanisamy, P.T.G.M. Jose Chacko, Chella Raghavendra, Padmakumar, and R. Jayasankar L, among others.
