Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a 53-year-old meat shop worker lost his life in an auto-bike collision near Ukkadam, Coimbatore. The victim, identified as Kulandaisamy from Mettukadu area of Narasimhapuram in Kuniyamuthur, was employed at a chicken shop in Ukkadam.
On September 29, Kulandaisamy attended the funeral of a relative in Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore. While returning home on his bike, he met with an accident near a school on the Ukkadam bypass road. An auto, driven by Raju (43) from Udayampalayam, unexpectedly collided with Kulandaisamy's bike, throwing him off the vehicle and causing severe injuries.
Passersby rescued Kulandaisamy and rushed him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on September 30. The Coimbatore West Investigation Wing Police have registered a case against the auto driver Raju and are conducting further investigations.
In an unrelated incident, the decomposed body of a priest was discovered in a locked house near Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. The deceased, identified as Balathandapani (55), resided in Velavan Nagar 2nd Street, Janata Nagar, Saravanampatti.
On September 30, neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from Balathandapani's house. Upon investigation, they found the house locked from the inside. Peering through a window, they spotted Balathandapani's lifeless body and immediately alerted the Saravanampatti police.
The police broke open the door and recovered Balathandapani's decomposed body, which was then sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem. Initial investigations revealed that Balathandapani's wife had left the house with their son about five days earlier following an argument, leaving him alone.
While it's estimated that Balathandapani had been dead for over four days, the cause of death remains unclear. The Saravanampatti police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to determine whether it was a suicide or if there were other factors involved in the priest's demise.
