A 39-year-old man was arrested for robbing a private company employee of his mobile phone and Rs. 1400 at knifepoint near Telungupalayam, Coimbatore. The incident occurred on September 29.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore police have arrested a 39-year-old man for robbing a private company employee at knifepoint near Telungupalayam. The incident took place on September 29, when the victim was standing in an empty plot in the area.

Manoj (24), a resident of Subramaniya Udayar Street in Telungupalayam and an employee of a private company, was the victim of the robbery. While Manoj was standing in an empty plot in the area, a youth approached him, threatened him with a knife, and snatched his mobile phone and Rs. 1400 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, Manoj filed a complaint with the Selvapuram police station. The police registered a case and began their investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of Ranjith Guru (39), a resident of Sivasakthi Nagar in Telungupalayam, who was identified as the perpetrator of the robbery.

The swift action by the Coimbatore police in apprehending the suspect demonstrates their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city. This incident serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant and cautious, especially in secluded areas.
