Three Arrested in Valparai for Attempting to Attack College Student with Knives and Sickles

Valparai police arrested three individuals who were roaming with knives and sickles, attempting to attack a college student. The incident occurred near the new bus stand in Valparai, Coimbatore district.



Coimbatore: The Valparai police have arrested three individuals who were roaming around with knives and sickles, attempting to attack a college student in Valparai, Coimbatore district.

The victim, Vettivel (18), son of Velliyangiri from Vazhaithotam area in Valparai, was standing near the new bus stand on the night of the incident. Three inebriated men from Anna Nagar area - Hariharan (19), Arumugam (25), and Anandharaj (19) - approached Vettivel with knives and sickles, threatening him and attempting to attack. They also robbed him of his money and mobile phone.

Following the incident, Vettivel filed a complaint at the Valparai police station. Based on the complaint, Inspector Anandakumar and a special police team initiated an investigation. During a night patrol, they managed to apprehend Arumugam and Anandharaj.

The prime accused, Hariharan, attempted to flee upon learning about the police search.



He ran into a tea estate but suffered severe injuries to his hand after falling. The police subsequently caught and arrested him.

All three accused were produced before the Coimbatore court and, as per the judge's order, have been remanded to judicial custody.
