South Zone CBSE Inter-School Hockey Tournament Concludes Near Mettupalayam

The South Zone CBSE inter-school hockey tournament concluded at Kallar near Mettupalayam. Over 1500 players from 100 plus schools across seven states participated in the four-day event, showcasing their skills in various age categories.


Coimbatore: The South Zone CBSE inter-school hockey tournament, which took place over the past four days at Sachidananda Jothi Niketan International School in Kallar near Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district, has come to a successful conclusion.

The tournament saw participation from over 100 schools representing Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, and the Andaman Islands. More than 1,500 hockey players, both boys and girls, showcased their skills during the four-day event.

The competition was conducted in three age categories - under 14, under 17, and under 19 - following a knockout format. The host school, Sachidananda Jothi Niketan, emerged victorious in all three boys' categories, clinching the championship trophies.

In the girls' under-14 category, Chennai's JCF Colony School secured the first place, while Sachidananda Jothi Niketan School finished as runners-up.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at Sachidananda Jothi Niketan School. Coimbatore's Superintendent of Police (SP) for Anti-Naxal Operations, Badri Narayanan, and poet Kavitasan were present at the event.



They distributed prizes to the winning teams and commended the participants for their performances.

The tournament provided a platform for young hockey talents from the southern region to compete and improve their skills. It also fostered a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participating schools and players.
