Tamil Nadu Extends Quarterly Holidays for Schools

The School Education Department of Tamil Nadu has extended the quarterly holidays for school students. The decision comes after various stakeholders requested an extension of the initially planned five-day break.

Coimbatore: The School Education Department of Tamil Nadu has announced an extension of the quarterly holidays for school students across the state.

Initially, the department had planned a short break from September 28 to October 2, with schools set to reopen on October 3 (Thursday). This five-day holiday period was scheduled following the completion of quarterly exams, which began on September 18 for 11th and 12th standard students and on September 20 for students from 6th to 10th standards.

However, various stakeholders had appealed for a longer break. Responding to these requests, the government has reviewed the situation and decided to extend the quarterly holidays.

According to the new announcement, the holiday period will now continue until Sunday, October 6. Schools across Tamil Nadu will reopen on Monday, October 7, giving students and staff an additional four days of rest.

This extension comes as a relief to many who felt that the original five-day break was insufficient. The decision reflects the government's responsiveness to the needs and suggestions of the educational community.

The School Education Department's timely announcement allows families and educational institutions to plan accordingly for the extended break. As the state's schools prepare to resume classes on October 7, students can now look forward to a more substantial rest period before beginning the next academic quarter.
