78th Valli Kummi and Thirukkural Kummi Performance Held Near Coimbatore

Over 250 participants, including men, women, and children, performed Valli Kummi and Thirukkural Kummi in matching attire near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore. The 78th inaugural event drew thousands of spectators.



Coimbatore: The 78th inaugural performance of Valli Kummi and Thirukkural Kummi by the V.K.V. Nagar Valli Murugan Art Group was held near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore. The event took place in the Rangammal Colony area of V.K.V. Nagar, attracting a large audience from surrounding areas.

The program began with a worship of Lord Murugan, followed by the main performance. Under the guidance of Valli Murugan Art Group teacher Palanisamy and Ranganathan, along with associate teachers Daya Nidhi, Prithi Daya Nidhi, Subiksha, and Meyyarasan, more than 250 participants aged 5 to 50 years performed the traditional Kummi dance. Men, women, and children, all dressed in matching attire, participated in the event.



Thousands of spectators from neighboring areas gathered to witness this cultural spectacle. The synchronized movements and colorful costumes of the performers created a visually stunning display, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The Valli Kummi and Thirukkural Kummi performances are traditional Tamil dance forms that combine rhythmic movements with recitations of verses from Thirukkural, a classic Tamil text. This annual event not only serves as a platform for preserving and promoting local art forms but also brings the community together in a celebration of culture and tradition.
