S.P. Velumani, Thondamuthur MLA and AIADMK Headquarters Secretary, visited families of two elephant attack victims in Coimbatore, offering condolences and financial assistance. The incidents occurred in Attukkal and Viraliyur areas of Thondamuthur constituency.

Coimbatore: S.P. Velumani, the Thondamuthur MLA and AIADMK Headquarters Secretary, personally visited the families of two elephant attack victims in Coimbatore to offer his condolences and provide financial assistance.

The first incident occurred on the 13th in the Attukkal area of Thondamuthur constituency. Devaraj, a daily wage laborer, was fatally attacked by an elephant in the early hours while he was attending to nature's call. The elephant, which was standing in the dark, suddenly charged at Devaraj, resulting in severe injuries and his subsequent death.

In another tragic incident that took place a few months ago in the Viraliyur area of Thondamuthur constituency, 24-year-old Karthik lost his life while participating in an operation to drive away a wild elephant that had entered the village. Karthik, who was working alongside the forest department officials, suddenly collapsed during the operation. Unexpectedly, the elephant attacked the fallen Karthik, inflicting fatal injuries. Despite medical treatment, Karthik succumbed to his injuries.

Velumani visited both families, expressing his heartfelt condolences for their losses. He offered emotional support to the grieving family members and provided financial assistance to help them cope with the tragic circumstances.

The AIADMK leader's gesture of personally meeting the affected families and extending support highlights the growing concern over human-elephant conflicts in the region. These incidents underscore the need for enhanced measures to mitigate such conflicts and ensure the safety of residents in areas prone to elephant intrusions.
