Hospital Staff Instructed to Wear Face Masks at Pollachi Government Hospital

Medical staff at Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital were instructed to wear face masks and follow hygiene protocols due to the spread of various diseases, including COVID-19 variants and dengue fever.

Coimbatore: The Emergency Department of Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital witnessed a crucial meeting today, emphasizing the importance of wearing face masks for both medical staff and patients. The instruction was given by Hospital Superintendent Dr. Raja, Residential Medical Officer Dr. Marimuthu, Nursing Superintendent Mrs. Dhanalakshmi, Disease Prevention Department Doctor Dr. Sinduja, and Nurse Lavanya.

The officials stressed the necessity of wearing face masks to all patients seeking treatment in the emergency ward, as well as to doctors, nurses, and other staff working there. This directive comes in light of the spread of various diseases, including COVID-19 variants, chikungunya, dengue fever, monkeypox, and Nipah virus.

In addition to wearing masks, the hospital staff were instructed to use hand sanitizers and wash their hands with soap regularly. The Patient Safety Week, which began on September 17, was also highlighted during the meeting. On the first day, staff members took an oath to ensure patient safety.

The medical team educated patients and their relatives about the importance of seeking timely medical attention, avoiding self-medication, and maintaining proper hygiene. They were advised to visit the hospital immediately if symptoms such as high fever, body ache, loss of appetite, vomiting, or fatigue occur.

To prevent dengue fever, the public was urged to eliminate stagnant water sources near their homes, use mosquito nets, and take necessary precautions to prevent mosquito breeding. These measures are crucial in controlling the spread of vector-borne diseases in the region.
