Coimbatore BJP district president J Ramesh Kumar announced the removal of R Satish from all party positions and basic membership due to actions detrimental to party unity and reputation.

Coimbatore: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken disciplinary action against its local leader in Coimbatore following the controversy surrounding a private conversation video between Annapoorna Srinivasan and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

J Ramesh Kumar, the BJP district president of Coimbatore, issued a statement on September 14 announcing the removal of R Satish from all party positions and basic membership. Satish, who had been serving as the Singai Mandal president for the Singanallur Assembly constituency in Coimbatore, was dismissed for engaging in activities that were deemed harmful to the party's unity and reputation.

The decision was taken with the approval of the state organizational general secretary Kesava Vinayagam G, state general secretary A.P. Muruganandam, and state treasurer S.R. Sekhar. The statement emphasized that Satish's actions were considered detrimental to the party's image and unity, leading to his immediate expulsion from all responsibilities and basic membership of the BJP.

This swift action by the BJP leadership in Coimbatore underscores the party's stance on maintaining discipline and protecting its public image, especially in the wake of controversial incidents that could potentially harm the party's reputation.
