Hindu Munnani Demands Relocation of Liquor Shop in Meenatchipuram near Pollachi

Hindu Munnani members submitted a petition to the Sub-Collector's office in Pollachi, demanding the relocation of a newly opened liquor shop in Meenatchipuram, citing concerns over its impact on local residents and students.

Coimbatore: Members of the Hindu Munnani organization have demanded the relocation of a liquor shop in Meenatchipuram near Pollachi, expressing concerns over its potential negative impact on the local community.

Led by Nandakumar, the District Secretary of Anamalai Hindu Munnani, a group of officials submitted a petition to the Sub-Collector's office on Wednesday (Sept. 13). The petition highlighted their grievances regarding the newly opened liquor outlet in the area.

According to the petition, a new liquor shop has been opened in Meenatchipuram, Diwanchaapudur Panchayat near Anamalai, along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala National Highway. This is in addition to an existing liquor store already operating in the vicinity.

The Hindu Munnani representatives pointed out that the area is predominantly inhabited by daily wage workers and economically disadvantaged individuals. They expressed concern that the presence of the liquor shop could have a detrimental effect on school students and working women who frequent the area.

The petitioners emphasized that the location of the liquor outlet poses a significant risk of causing distress and creating an uncomfortable environment for the local residents, particularly women and students. In light of these concerns, they have urged the authorities to consider relocating the newly established liquor shop to a less sensitive area.

The Hindu Munnani has requested prompt action from the local administration to address this issue and ensure the well-being of the community in Meenatchipuram.
