DMK Coimbatore District Secretary N. Karthik Invites Party Members to Commemorate Anna's Birth Anniversary

DMK Coimbatore District Secretary N. Karthik has invited party members to participate in the 116th birth anniversary celebrations of Perarignar Anna on September 15, 2024, at Gandhi Puram in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Coimbatore is gearing up to celebrate the 116th birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna, the founder of the party and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. N. Karthik, the DMK Coimbatore District Secretary and former MLA, has extended an invitation to party members and functionaries to participate in the event.

The celebration is scheduled for Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8:00 AM near the statue of Perarignar Anna in Gandhi Puram, Coimbatore. The event will include garlanding the statue and paying respects to the legendary leader who played a pivotal role in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.

In his Facebook post, Karthik highlighted Anna's contributions to Tamil Nadu, stating, "He was the one who, with his captivating voice and compelling writing, created countless followers and ruled Tamil Nadu. He taught the principles of 'Duty, Dignity, and Discipline'."

The DMK leader also emphasized Anna's historical significance, noting that he renamed Madras State to Tamil Nadu, formed the first Dravidian government in 1967, and legalized self-respect marriages upon assuming power, thereby affirming his Dravidian ideology.

Karthik has called for the participation of a wide range of party officials and members, including city and district administrators, the Coimbatore MP, key party functionaries, the Mayor, executive committee members, general body members, zonal leaders, standing committee chairpersons, corporation councilors, union secretaries, district wing leaders, organizers, deputy organizers, vice presidents, and booth committee members.

The invitation extends to all DMK cadres and frontline workers, urging them to attend the event in large numbers to pay homage to the party's founder and iconic leader of Tamil Nadu.
