LIC Employees' Union Stages Candlelight Protest in Coimbatore for Kolkata Female Doctor's Murder

LIC employees in Coimbatore held a candlelight protest demanding justice for the murdered female doctor in Kolkata and stricter measures for women's safety in workplaces.



Coimbatore: The Insurance Corporation Employees' Union in Coimbatore staged a candlelight protest on Thursday, demanding justice for the female trainee doctor who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Kolkata. The incident has sent shockwaves across the nation, prompting doctors, public, and various organizations to conduct protests nationwide.



As part of the ongoing demonstrations, the Women's Sub-Committee of the LIC Employees' Union, Coimbatore Division, organized a candlelight vigil in front of the LIC office on Trichy Road. The protesters called for severe punishment for the culprits and emphasized the need for adequate safety measures for women in workplaces.



During the protest, participants held banners urging both central and state governments to guarantee the safety of women in workplaces and to put an end to violence against women and children.



They also raised slogans highlighting their demands and concerns.



More than 50 people participated in this demonstration, showing solidarity with the victim and advocating for stricter laws to protect women.

The tragic incident in Kolkata has reignited discussions on women's safety in India, particularly in professional settings. The LIC employees' protest in Coimbatore is part of a larger movement across the country, pushing for systemic changes to ensure the security and well-being of women in all spheres of life.
