TNAU Launches Week-Long Refresher Course for Plant Biotechnology Faculty in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University inaugurates a refresher course for Plant Biotechnology faculty from August 27-30, 2024, aiming to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in the field.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has inaugurated a week-long refresher course for faculty members in Plant Biotechnology at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The course, scheduled from August 27 to 30, 2024, aims to enhance the teaching skills of academic staff from TNAU's constituent colleges and keep them updated with the latest advancements in their respective fields.

The program, organized by the Department of Plant Biotechnology, has attracted over 14 faculty members from various constituent colleges, creating a dynamic environment for learning and exchanging ideas. Dr. Venkatesa Palanichamy, Dean (Agriculture), inaugurated the event and delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of continuous professional development for educators. He stressed the need for faculty to adapt to the rapidly evolving academic landscape and incorporate innovative teaching methods to foster better student engagement.

Dr. N. Senthil, Director of the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, highlighted the importance of conducting such refresher courses every three to four years. He explained that this approach ensures uniform delivery of course content across all TNAU campuses teaching biotechnology subjects and allows faculty members to share their specialized knowledge with colleagues.

Dr. Kokiladevi, Professor & Head of the Department of Plant Biotechnology, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Arul, Professor & Head of the Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, proposed a vote of thanks.



Participating faculty members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and skills, acknowledging the value the course brings to their professional development. The Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology plans to continue such initiatives in the future to ensure that the faculty remains at the forefront of educational innovation, thereby contributing to the overall quality of education at TNAU.
