Free Artificial Joint Implant Camp Brings Joy to Differently-Abled in Coimbatore

A massive free artificial joint implant camp was held in Coimbatore, attracting thousands of differently-abled individuals from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The event provided life-changing mobility aids to participants.

Coimbatore: A heartwarming scene unfolded in Coimbatore as differently-abled individuals, who arrived with helpers unable to walk independently, left the venue walking on their own after receiving free artificial joints. The emotional moment was witnessed at a large-scale free artificial joint implant camp organized in the city.

The camp, which drew thousands of differently-abled participants from various parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, was conducted by Narayan Seva Sansthan, an organization based in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This NGO is known for organizing free camps to provide artificial limbs and hands not only in India but also in African countries.

In April, a preliminary camp was held in Coimbatore, where measurements were taken for artificial joints and calipers for over a thousand differently-abled individuals. Following this, the current camp was organized to fit these custom-made artificial joints with the assistance of a medical team.

Participants from various districts of Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Madurai, and Trichy, as well as from Karnataka and Kerala, attended the camp in large numbers. More than 20 medical teams were stationed in separate arenas, fitting artificial hands and legs and providing training on their usage to the beneficiaries.

The sight of differently-abled individuals, who had arrived with helpers, walking independently with their new artificial joints brought tears of joy to their relatives' eyes. This camp has not only provided physical mobility but also instilled a sense of independence and hope in the lives of many differently-abled people.
