Congress Protests in Pollachi Against Union Minister's Remarks on Rahul Gandhi

Congress members in Pollachi staged a protest condemning Union Minister Anurag Thakur's comments on Rahul Gandhi during a parliamentary session, demanding a caste census.

Coimbatore: Members of the Congress party held a demonstration in Pollachi on Thursday, condemning Union Minister Anurag Thakur's recent remarks against Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. The protest was organized by the Coimbatore South District Congress Committee at the Thiruvalluvar Thidal in Pollachi.

The demonstration was a response to an incident in Parliament where Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized Rahul Gandhi during a discussion on conducting a caste-based census. Thakur reportedly made remarks questioning Gandhi's caste, which sparked outrage among Congress members nationwide.

Led by the South District President Bhagavathi, the protesters raised slogans against Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The demonstrators expressed their strong disapproval of the minister's comments and demanded action against him for his remarks in Parliament.

The protest in Pollachi is part of a series of demonstrations being held by Congress party members across the country in response to the parliamentary incident. The party workers emphasized the need for respectful political discourse and condemned what they perceived as personal attacks on their leader.

Local Congress leaders used the platform to highlight the importance of a caste-based census, which was the original topic of discussion in Parliament before the controversial exchange. They reiterated their party's stance on the need for such a census to address social inequalities and formulate targeted welfare policies.

The demonstration concluded peacefully, with the party members vowing to continue their protests until their demands are met and action is taken against the Union Minister for his remarks.
