Coimbatore: On July 31, 2023, Coimbatore Corporation officials attempted to remove a Mahishasura Mardini temple that had been situated on public land for the past 30 years in the P&T Colony area of Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore.

Upon receiving information about the removal attempt, BJP District President J. Ramesh Kumar, along with Kavundampalayam Zonal Leader Kandeepan Balpandi, BJP executives, and members of RSS, Hindu Munnani, VHP, and other party officials, along with the general public, arrived at the scene. They prevented the corporation officials from removing the temple.



The group successfully halted the removal process and subsequently performed a special puja at the temple. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of religious structures on encroached public land and the challenges faced by local authorities in addressing such situations.
