Warning Issued: No Entry or Bathing in Bhavani River at Mettupalayam

Mettupalayam Tahsildar warns public and devotees against entering or bathing in Bhavani River due to increased water release from Pilloor Dam on July 29.

Coimbatore: The Mettupalayam Tahsildar has issued a crucial warning to the public and devotees, urging them not to enter or bathe in the Bhavani River. This precautionary measure comes in light of the increased water release from the Pilloor Dam into the river.

The Pilloor Dam, located in Nellithurai village of Mettupalayam taluk in Coimbatore district, has reached its full capacity due to continuous heavy rains in the catchment areas. As a result, excess water above 15,000 cubic feet is being released into the Bhavani River.

The warning is particularly aimed at devotees planning to attend the Kundam festival at the Arulmigu Vanabadrakaliyamman Temple. The administration emphasizes the potential dangers of entering the river during this period of high water flow.

This announcement, made on July 29, underscores the importance of public safety and the need for caution during religious festivities coinciding with monsoon-related water management operations.
