108 Ambulance Workers Petition Coimbatore Collector for Basic Facilities

108 ambulance workers in Coimbatore district submitted a petition to the District Collector on July 29, demanding basic facilities and improved working conditions for their essential service.

Coimbatore: On July 29, 108 ambulance workers in Coimbatore district submitted a petition to the District Collector, demanding basic facilities and improved working conditions. The workers highlighted the challenges they face while providing their essential service to the public.

According to the petition, over 65 ambulances are operating round the clock in Coimbatore district, with more than 250 male and female medical staff working tirelessly. However, the workers are facing significant difficulties due to the lack of basic amenities.

The ambulance workers stated that they struggle without proper spaces to park and clean their vehicles. They also mentioned the absence of restroom facilities, which causes great inconvenience during their shifts. The workers requested dedicated parking areas for ambulances and rest rooms with toilet facilities at ambulance stations.

The petition also highlighted the issue of staff shortage, resulting in some ambulances remaining non-operational. The workers urged the authorities to address this by recruiting more personnel. They also requested separate areas in government hospitals for cleaning and maintaining the ambulances.

Another concern raised in the petition was the alleged illegal transfer of ambulance workers. The employees claimed that some officials were misusing their power to transfer workers arbitrarily. They appealed for measures to prevent such vindictive actions and ensure fair treatment.

The ambulance workers emphasized the crucial nature of their job in saving lives and called for immediate government action to fulfill their basic needs. They hope that addressing these issues will enable them to provide better service to the public in emergency situations.
