Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam Protests Budget Neglect of Tamil Nadu in Pollachi

Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam members held a unique street corner meeting in Pollachi, wearing flowers around their ears, to protest the central budget's neglect of Tamil Nadu. The demonstration took place at the central bus stand.

Coimbatore: Members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) staged a unique protest in Pollachi against the central government's alleged neglect of Tamil Nadu in the recent Union Budget. The demonstrators wore flowers around their ears as a symbolic gesture during their street corner meeting held in front of the Pollachi Central Bus Stand.

The protest, organized by TPDK and other political and social organizations, aimed to highlight the lack of fund allocation and project announcements for Tamil Nadu in the central budget.

The street corner meeting was led by TPDK General Secretary Ramakrishnan.

Protesters carried banners with namam (religious marks) to emphasize the budget's perceived bias. They chanted slogans such as "Govinda for Tamil Nadu," "Govinda for BJP," and "Govinda for Tamil Nadu's projects," using the traditional call of "Govinda" to mock the budget's shortcomings.

The demonstration saw participation from various PDK officials and supporters. The organizers criticized the central government for not allocating any funds or announcing any significant projects for Tamil Nadu in the recent budget session.

This protest is part of a series of demonstrations by regional parties and organizations in Tamil Nadu, expressing dissatisfaction with the Union Budget's treatment of the state. The use of flowers around the ears and the chanting of "Govinda" slogans added a unique Tamil cultural context to the protest, making it stand out from conventional demonstrations.
