Man raises funds for differently-abled through unique approach in Coimbatore

Sivasubramani, known as Averness Appa, travels across districts and states to raise funds for a free shelter for differently-abled in Tirupur, using his distinctive attire and bike to spread awareness.

Coimbatore: Sivasubramani, also known as Averness Appa, a member of the Desam Kappom Foundation based in Tirupur district, has been serving the differently-abled for 20 years. The foundation has been working tirelessly for the welfare of the differently-abled community.

Sivasubramani has been raising awareness about road safety for many years. His ultimate wish is to build a free shelter for the differently-abled in Tiruppur district, estimated to cost around one crore rupees. To achieve this goal, he travels to various districts and states, collecting donations from the public.

What makes Sivasubramani stand out is his unique approach to raising awareness. His attire and the bike he rides are covered with various awareness messages about road safety and health. Some of the messages printed on his clothes and bike include "Insurance is essential," "Moderate speed is very good," "Blood donation is for humans, not roads," "Let's donate organs," "Wear face masks," "Let's donate skin," "Let's protect from Corona," and "Avoid drunk driving."

Sivasubramani travels on his two-wheeler with a banner stating, "I will serve the differently-abled even if I have to beg." He meets people and collects donations for establishing a free shelter for the differently-abled in Tirupur.

Currently in Coimbatore, Sivasubramani continues his fundraising efforts. He mentioned that when he wears such clothes, the public views him differently. While many people offer help, some criticize him.
