Woman Arrested for Selling Ganja in Coimbatore's Selvapuram

Coimbatore police arrested a 49-year-old woman for selling ganja in Selvapuram on July 25. 200 grams of cannabis and a mobile phone were seized during the operation.


Coimbatore: In a crackdown on illegal drug trade, the Selvapuram police in Coimbatore arrested a woman for selling ganja on Tuesday, July 25. The arrest was made during a routine patrol in the area.

The police team became suspicious of a woman standing near the Southern Housing Unit in Kallapuram. Upon questioning, she gave contradictory answers, leading to a search. The search revealed that she was involved in ganja sales.

The arrested woman has been identified as Farhat Nisha (49), wife of Sahul Hameed, residing in the Southern Housing Unit of Selvapuram. The police seized 200 grams of ganja and a mobile phone from her possession.

Further investigation into the case led the police to file charges against Farhat Nisha's son, Abdul Kalam (25), for his alleged involvement in the drug trade. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the drug network operating in the area.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb the illegal drug trade in the city. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to help maintain law and order in the community.
