IT Employee Dies in Train Accident in Coimbatore

A 25-year-old IT employee was killed when hit by an express train while crossing the railway tracks in Peelamedu, Coimbatore, in the early hours of July 25.


Coimbatore: A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 25, when a 25-year-old IT employee lost his life after being hit by a train in Coimbatore. The deceased, identified as Ashokkumar, son of Senniyappan from Erode Railway Colony, was working at an IT company in Coimbatore.

Ashokkumar, who was residing in the Peelamedu area, attempted to cross the railway tracks in the locality during the early hours of July 25. The Kochuveli-Mysuru Express train, which was passing through at that time, struck him. Tragically, Ashokkumar died on the spot due to the impact.

The Coimbatore Railway Police have registered a case regarding the incident and are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. This unfortunate event serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with crossing railway tracks and the importance of using designated crossings.

The IT community in Coimbatore is in shock following the untimely demise of the young professional. The incident has once again brought attention to the need for enhanced safety measures and awareness around railway tracks, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic.
