Hindu Makkal Katchi Files Complaint Against Dravidian Outfit's Protest in Coimbatore

A protest by Dravidian organizations against the central government's budget in Coimbatore drew controversy for allegedly mocking Hindu traditions. Hindu Makkal Katchi filed a complaint with the police.

Coimbatore: The Hindu Makkal Katchi has filed a complaint with the Race Course Police Station in Coimbatore against a recent protest conducted by the Dravidar Kazhagam and its allied organizations. The protest, which was organized to condemn the central government's budget, has sparked controversy due to its alleged mockery of Hindu religious practices.

According to the complaint, the protesters wore flowers in their ears as part of their demonstration, a gesture that is typically associated with Hindu worship. The demonstrators reportedly chanted slogans like "Govinda" for Tamil Nadu, which the Hindu Makkal Katchi claims was an attempt to ridicule Hindu gods and religious customs.

The Dravidian organizations, known for their atheistic ideology, have been accused of disrespecting Hindu beliefs and practices through their protest actions. The Hindu Makkal Katchi, representing the Hindu community in Coimbatore district, has taken offense to this form of protest and decided to bring it to the attention of law enforcement.

The complaint filed by the Hindu Makkal Katchi seeks action against the protesters for allegedly insulting Hindu religious sentiments. The incident has added to the ongoing tensions between various ideological groups in Tamil Nadu, particularly concerning matters of religion and politics.

As of now, it remains to be seen how the police will respond to the complaint and what actions, if any, will be taken regarding the controversial protest. The incident highlights the sensitive nature of religious expression in public demonstrations and the potential for such actions to lead to inter-community disputes.
