Modi performs Roadshow in Coimbatore during elections but doesn’t approve Coimbatore Metro Plan: DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran

DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran criticizes PM Modi during budget debate for not approving Coimbatore Metro project despite holding roadshow. He also highlighted issues with fuel prices and infrastructure projects.

Delhi: During the budget debate, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not approving the Coimbatore Metro project despite conducting a roadshow in the city. Maran's speech highlighted several issues concerning Tamil Nadu and the central government's policies.

Maran pointed out that despite purchasing crude oil from Russia at half the price, the government has not reduced petrol and diesel prices. He also mentioned that the central government has not given approval for the Tambaram-Chengalpattu elevated corridor project.

The DMK MP further stated that the central government has not allocated even a single rupee for the Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 project so far. He accused Prime Minister Modi of not working for the people he had promised to serve, instead focusing only on the interests of alliance parties.

Maran's criticism comes in the wake of Modi's recent visit to Coimbatore, where he held a roadshow. The DMK leader used this opportunity to highlight the lack of progress on key infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu, particularly the Coimbatore Metro project, which has been a long-standing demand of the city's residents.

The speech in the parliament has brought attention to the alleged neglect of Tamil Nadu's development projects by the central government. It has also reignited the debate on the need for better coordination between the state and central governments for the implementation of crucial infrastructure projects.
