Tamil Nadu Government Announces Distribution of New Ration Cards from Next Month

The Tamil Nadu government has announced that new ration cards will be distributed from next month. The distribution was halted for over six months due to the parliamentary elections.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the distribution of new ration cards will commence from next month. This decision comes after a prolonged halt in the issuance of new cards for over six months due to the parliamentary elections.

The distribution of new ration cards had been suspended for various reasons, including the recent parliamentary elections. This delay has affected many citizens who have been waiting to receive their new cards for an extended period.

According to official sources, approximately 2.8 lakh people have applied for new ration cards. Many applicants are seeking these cards for various purposes, including eligibility for the Rs. 1000 women's rights amount scheme recently introduced by the government.

The announcement has brought relief to the large number of applicants who have been waiting for their ration cards. These cards are essential for accessing various government welfare schemes and subsidized commodities through the public distribution system.

The government's decision to resume the distribution of new ration cards is expected to benefit a significant portion of the population, especially those from economically weaker sections who rely on the public distribution system for essential commodities.

Officials from the Civil Supplies Department have stated that they are prepared to begin the distribution process as soon as they receive the go-ahead from the government. They have assured that the distribution will be carried out in a systematic manner to ensure that all eligible applicants receive their cards in a timely fashion.
