Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Inaugurates New Park in Ward 23

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inaugurated a new children's park and biodiversity park in Ward 23 of the East Zone on July 24, 2024. The park, built under the Namakku Naame scheme, cost Rs 82 lakhs.


Coimbatore: On July 24, 2024, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inaugurated a new children's park and biodiversity park in Ward 23 of the East Zone, specifically in the BM.R Layout area. The park was constructed under the Namakku Naame scheme with full contribution from the Vijayalakshmi Ramakrishnan Foundation, at a cost of Rs 82 lakhs.

The newly opened park is equipped with various amenities to cater to the needs of the public. It features play equipment for children, solar-powered lighting, drinking water facilities, a rest area, drip irrigation systems, and walkways.



During the inauguration, the Commissioner praised the volunteers who excellently designed and constructed the park. He urged the local residents to make good use of the park and benefit from its facilities.

The park's development is part of the ongoing efforts by the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation to implement various projects for public benefit across the East, West, North, South, and Central zones of the city.



The Commissioner expressed his appreciation for the volunteer efforts in creating the park and encouraged the local community to utilize and maintain the facility well.



The inauguration event was attended by several notable figures, including Mrs. Ilakumi Ilanchelvi Karthik, the East Zone Committee Chairperson; Mrs. Thiruchitra Maniyan, a Council Member; Mr. Muthusamy, the Assistant Commissioner; Mr. Ramakrishnan, founder of the Vijayalakshmi-Ramakrishnan Trust; Mrs. Usha Rani, Managing Director; Mr. Balakrishnan, Coordinator; Mr. Karuppasamy, Executive Engineer; Mr. Rajesh, Assistant Executive Engineer; Mr. Kumar, Assistant Engineer; trust administrators, and various Corporation officials.
