College student arrested for sexually harassing female classmates in Coimbatore

A 22-year-old college student in Coimbatore was arrested on July 22 for sexually harassing and blackmailing two female classmates with intimate photos and videos. The incident occurred near Idayarpalayam bus stop.


Coimbatore: A 22-year-old college student was arrested in Coimbatore for sexually harassing and blackmailing two of his female classmates. The accused, identified as Sri Darshan, is a second-year MA English student at a private college in Kuniyamuthur area of Coimbatore.

Sri Darshan, son of Srikandan from Vaththiyar Villai in Kanyakumari district, was in a relationship with a 21-year-old female classmate named Siprin, daughter of Rasheed from Thirumarai Nagar in Kuniyamuthur. During their relationship, Sri Darshan allegedly took intimate photos and videos of the girl without her knowledge.

When Siprin began avoiding Sri Darshan due to his behavior, he confronted her near the Idayarpalayam bus stop where she had gone to meet her friends. He allegedly used abusive language and threatened to expose their private photos and videos.

In a similar incident, Sri Darshan approached another female classmate, 19-year-old Sathya Sri from Aranmanai Puthur in Theni district, claiming to be in love with her. He reportedly took inappropriate photos of her when they were alone.

Sri Darshan threatened both girls with exposure of their private pictures, leading to confrontations. Subsequently, both victims filed complaints at the Coimbatore Kuniyamuthur Police Station.

Based on the complaints, the police arrested Sri Darshan on July 22 and are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
