Coimbatore: The Ramanathapuram police in Coimbatore arrested a bar employee on Saturday, July 22, for illegally hoarding and selling liquor bottles at inflated prices near the electric crematorium on Nanjundapuram Road.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal sale of liquor bottles at higher prices near the electric crematorium, the Ramanathapuram police conducted a surprise raid on Saturday evening. During the inspection, they discovered the hidden stash of liquor bottles intended for illegal sale.

The police arrested Thirumoorthy, a 30-year-old man from Pudukkottai district, in connection with the case. Thirumoorthy was employed as a worker at a nearby TASMAC bar. The authorities seized 20 liquor bottles from his possession during the raid.

Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the illegal operation and to identify any potential accomplices involved in the hoarding and selling of liquor bottles at inflated prices. The incident has raised concerns about the illegal sale of alcohol in the area and the need for stricter monitoring of TASMAC outlets and their employees.
