Former Minister Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan Leads Protest Against Electricity Tariff Hike in Udumalpet

Over 500 AIADMK members protested in Udumalpet against electricity tariff hikes and shortage of essential commodities in ration shops. The demonstration was led by former minister Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan.

Coimbatore: Former minister and Udumalpet MLA Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan led a protest against the recent electricity tariff hike in Tamil Nadu and the shortage of essential commodities in ration shops. The demonstration, organized by the AIADMK's Tirupur Suburban West District unit, took place in front of the Udumalpet bus stand in Tirupur district.

More than 500 AIADMK members from Udumalpet and Palladam areas participated in the protest, raising slogans against the electricity tariff increase and the scarcity of pulses and palm oil in fair price shops. Radhakrishnan criticized the current DMK government for discontinuing several welfare schemes implemented during the AIADMK regime.

The former minister stated that the poor and underprivileged sections of society have been severely affected by the suspension of beneficial schemes such as the free gold for mangalsutra and free laptop distribution programs. He accused the DMK government of halting many such initiatives that were aimed at helping the economically weaker sections.

Notable attendees at the protest included former Palladam MLA Karaiputur Natarajan, Tirupur Suburban West District Deputy Secretary Sastri Srinivasan, City Secretary Hakeem, and Union Secretaries Anbar Rajan, Pranesh, Murugesan, and Somasundaram. The demonstration highlighted the growing discontent among opposition parties regarding the recent policy changes and price hikes in Tamil Nadu.
