Postal Officer Arrested for Sexual Harassment, Victim's Relative Stabs Accused in Coimbatore

A postal officer in Coimbatore was arrested for sexually harassing a female employee. The victim's relative stabbed the accused, leading to a police investigation into both incidents.

Coimbatore: A disturbing incident of sexual harassment at a post office in Coimbatore has led to the arrest of a postal officer and a retaliatory stabbing by the victim's relative.

Sneha (21), a temporary employee at the Nanjundapuram Post Office in Coimbatore, was allegedly sexually harassed by Vijayakumar (44), a postal officer from Sulur, while working in the parcel section on Saturday. The sudden assault shocked Sneha, who immediately raised an alarm, causing Vijayakumar to flee the scene.

Distressed by the incident, Sneha informed her family about the sexual harassment by her colleague. Enraged by this, Uthaman, a relative of Sneha, confronted Vijayakumar and stabbed him with a knife, causing injuries to the accused.

Following a complaint filed by Sneha, the Podanur Police registered a case and conducted an investigation. Vijayakumar was subsequently arrested on July 21 for sexual harassment.

In a separate case, based on Vijayakumar's complaint about the stabbing incident, the police are currently searching for Uthaman, the victim's relative who allegedly carried out the attack.

This incident has sparked concerns about workplace safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent sexual harassment in professional environments.
