Coimbatore: In a demonstration that turned contentious, 70 members of the Hindu Munnani were arrested in Pollachi on Wednesday for protesting against the Tamil Nadu government.



The protest, which took place in front of the Central Telecommunications Office in Pollachi, was centered around demands for the removal of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department from Hindu temples across the state.



The Hindu Munnani members voiced their concerns over several issues related to temple administration. They demanded the abolition of worship fees in temples and called for increased allocation of funds for the maintenance of Hindu temples.



The protesters raised slogans against the Tamil Nadu government, expressing their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs regarding temple management.



As the demonstration intensified, local police intervened and arrested the protesters. The 70 Hindu Munnani members were subsequently detained in a private hall. This incident has highlighted the ongoing tensions between certain Hindu organizations and the state government over the management and control of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu.
