Three arrested for attempting to rob bakery employee at knifepoint near Vadavalli in Coimbatore

Three men were arrested in Coimbatore for attempting to rob a bakery employee at knifepoint near Vadavalli on July 19. The incident occurred when the victim was waiting for a friend near an Aavin outlet.


Coimbatore: Three men were arrested by the Vadavalli police for attempting to rob a bakery employee at knifepoint near Vadavalli in Coimbatore on July 19.

The victim, identified as Jeevanathan (25) from Nannilam village in Thiruvarur district, works at a bakery in Jaya Nagar, Vadavalli. On the day of the incident, Jeevanathan was standing near an Aavin outlet close to Vadavalli, waiting to meet a friend.

According to reports, three men approached Jeevanathan and demanded money for alcohol. When he refused, they allegedly threatened him by placing a knife against his stomach. Jeevanathan's cries for help alerted nearby residents, who rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend the three suspects. They were then handed over to the Vadavalli police.

During the investigation, the police identified the suspects as Niranjan (23) from Kasturinayakkanpalayam, and Arjun (20) and Sabarigiri (26), both from Vadavalli. All three were subsequently arrested by the police on July 19.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, and local residents have urged the police to increase patrols to prevent such occurrences in the future.
