Residents Demand Capture of Marauding Monkeys in Coimbatore

Residents of central Coimbatore urge forest department to trap and capture monkeys causing havoc in several areas. Incidents reported in Sivanandhapuram and Vadavalli, raising safety concerns among locals.

Coimbatore: Residents of central Coimbatore are calling for immediate action to address the growing menace of monkeys in their neighborhoods. Over the past few months, monkeys have been wreaking havoc in various parts of the city, including Ukkadam, Kottaimedu, Periya Kadai Veethi, and Rathinapuri.

Alarmed by the frequent monkey intrusions, residents had previously alerted the forest department. However, the elusive primates managed to escape before officials could arrive at the scene.

The situation escalated on July 19 when a monkey created chaos in Kannappan Nagar of Sivanandha Colony. Witnessing the disturbance, local residents promptly informed the forest department about the incident.

Similarly, residents of Mullai Nagar in Vadavalli, located along Marudhamalai Road, have reported a monkey roaming in their area, causing significant distress to the community.

The monkey menace has instilled fear among residents, particularly affecting women and children who are now hesitant to leave their homes. In response to this growing concern, residents have formally requested the forest department to take swift action and capture the troublesome monkeys using cages.

As the incidents continue to occur in different parts of Coimbatore, locals are hopeful that the authorities will address their concerns promptly to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the affected communities.
