Ban on Tourists at Kovai Kutralam Continues - Forest Department Announcement

The Forest Department extends the ban on tourists at Kovai Kutralam due to heavy water flow and safety concerns. The restriction, imposed on June 26, will remain in effect until further notice.

Coimbatore: The Forest Department has announced that the ban on tourists visiting Kovai Kutralam will continue due to the ongoing monsoon rains and resultant high water flow in the waterfalls. The restriction was initially imposed on June 26th, considering the safety of visitors due to the increased water flow.

Forest Department officials stated on July 18th that even after 20 days, the monsoon rains continue to cause flooding in the waterfalls. As a result, the ban will remain in effect until further notice to ensure public safety.

The officials have also appealed to both tourists and local residents of Coimbatore to refrain from visiting the waterfall area. This measure is taken to prevent any untoward incidents that may occur due to the heavy water flow and potential flash floods in the region.

The Forest Department continues to monitor the situation closely and will reassess the conditions before lifting the ban. Visitors are advised to stay updated with official announcements and respect the restrictions for their own safety.
