Coimbatore: Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials conducted a surprise inspection on private and mini buses plying between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore on July 17. The inspection team, led by Mettupalayam Regional Transport Officer Ganesan and Motor Vehicle Inspector Sivakumar, carried out checks near Teachers Colony in Karamadai.

The officials focused on buses heading towards Coimbatore from Mettupalayam and mini buses operating in rural areas. After the inspection, the authorities addressed the passengers, urging them to report any violations observed during their journey.

The RTO team requested passengers to take photographs or videos if they witness any of the following violations: drivers operating the vehicle at high speeds, using mobile phones while driving, conductors allowing passengers to travel on footboards, use of air horns or musical horns, or allowing anyone to sit on the bonnet (engine cover) of the vehicle.

Passengers were encouraged to send these evidences to the RTO office, with officials promising to take action within an hour of receiving the complaint. This initiative aims to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules on the busy Coimbatore-Mettupalayam route.
