219th Death Anniversary of Freedom Fighter Pollan Commemorated in Coimbatore

DMK officials in Coimbatore paid floral tributes to freedom fighter Pollan on his 219th death anniversary. Pollan served as the army commander of Dheeran Chinnamalai during India's independence struggle.


Coimbatore: The 219th death anniversary of Pollan, a prominent figure in India's freedom struggle and the army commander of Dheeran Chinnamalai, was observed today in Coimbatore. To mark this occasion, DMK officials gathered at the party office in Sulur to pay their respects.

The commemoration ceremony was led by Thalapathi Murugesan, the DMK Coimbatore South District Secretary. Along with other DMK administrators, including general committee member Ragu, they offered floral tributes to a portrait of Pollan.

Pollan's role in the Indian independence movement, particularly his service as the army commander for Dheeran Chinnamalai, is remembered as a significant contribution to the nation's fight for freedom. This annual observance serves to honor his memory and keep alive the spirit of patriotism among the current generation.

The event at the DMK office in Sulur demonstrated the party's commitment to remembering and honoring local historical figures who played crucial roles in India's struggle for independence.
