Nilgiris Additional District Judge Dies in Tragic Road Accident Near Pollachi; Two-Wheeler Rider Arrested

Additional District Judge Karunanidhi (58) of Nilgiris District Court died in a tragic road accident near Chinnampalayam, Pollachi. The incident occurred when a two-wheeler collided with the judge while he was crossing the road.


Coimbatore: In a tragic incident that occurred late last night near Chinnampalayam in Pollachi, Additional District Judge Karunanidhi (58) of the Nilgiris District Court lost his life in a road accident. The unfortunate event took place when a two-wheeler collided with the judge as he attempted to cross the road.

According to reports, Judge Karunanidhi had driven from his residence to a grocery store located on the Pollachi-Udumalpet National Highway. After parking his car, he was crossing the road when a speeding two-wheeler coming from Udumalpet towards Pollachi hit him and fled the scene without stopping. The judge sustained severe injuries in the collision.

Bystanders immediately came to the judge's aid and called for an ambulance to transport him to the Pollachi Government Hospital. Tragically, Judge Karunanidhi succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Pollachi East Police rushed to the scene. They reviewed CCTV footage from the area to investigate the hit-and-run case. The investigation revealed that the two-wheeler rider responsible for the accident was Vanchimuthu, a workshop employee from the Nagoor area.

Following this lead, the Pollachi East Police conducted a search operation and arrested Vanchimuthu, who was hiding in the Nagoor area. He is currently under intense interrogation by the police.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the communities of Pollachi and the Nilgiris region. It has also underscored the critical need for increased awareness about road safety and responsible driving.

The untimely demise of Judge Karunanidhi is a significant loss to the judicial system, and the incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and exercising caution on the roads.
