Additional District Judge of Nilgiris Killed in Road Accident Near Pollachi

Karunanidhi, Additional District Judge of Nilgiris, was fatally struck by a two-wheeler while crossing the road near Pollachi. The incident occurred on the Pollachi-Udumalpet National Highway, leading to his tragic demise.


Coimbatore: In a tragic incident near Pollachi, Karunanidhi (58), the Additional District Judge of Nilgiris, lost his life in a road accident on Tuesday afternoon. The judge was struck by a two-wheeler while attempting to cross the Pollachi-Udumalpet National Highway.

Karunanidhi, a resident of Chinnampallayam near Pollachi, had driven his car to a grocery store located on the side of the national highway. After parking his vehicle, he attempted to cross the road when a two-wheeler traveling from Udumalpet towards Pollachi collided with him and fled the scene without stopping.



Bystanders immediately rushed to Karunanidhi's aid and called for an ambulance to transport him to the Pollachi Government Hospital. Unfortunately, the judge succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.



The Pollachi East Police have launched an investigation into the incident. They are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the two-wheeler rider responsible for the hit-and-run accident.
