Coimbatore: The Amaravathi Dam near Udumalpet in Tiruppur district has seen a significant increase in water inflow due to continuous heavy rains in its catchment areas. The dam's water level has risen by an impressive 8 feet in just one day, much to the delight of farmers in the region.

As of 6 AM today, the water inflow to the dam stands at 7,003 cubic feet per second. The current water level in the Amaravathi Dam is 72.67 feet out of its total capacity of 90 feet. It's worth noting that yesterday, the water level was at 64 feet.

The catchment areas of the Amaravathi Dam, including Pambaru, Thuvaanam, Kanthaloor, and Maraiyur, have been receiving heavy rainfall without interruption. This continuous downpour has led to a steady increase in the water inflow to the dam.

The sudden rise in water level has brought immense joy to farmers in both the old and new ayacut areas of the Amaravathi Dam. They are hopeful that this increase in water storage will significantly benefit their agricultural activities in the coming season.
