Siruvani Dam Water Level Rises Significantly Due to Heavy Rainfall

The water level in Siruvani Dam has increased from 31.45 feet to 35.35 feet within 24 hours due to substantial rainfall in the catchment areas, boosting water resources for Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: The Siruvani Dam, a crucial water source for Coimbatore, has experienced a significant rise in its water level over the past 24 hours. The dam's water level, which stood at 31.45 feet yesterday, has now reached 35.35 feet, marking a substantial increase of 3.9 feet.

This rise can be attributed to the heavy rainfall recorded in the dam's catchment areas. At the base of the dam, rainfall measurements have increased dramatically from 18 mm yesterday morning to 95 mm today.

Similarly, the dam site itself has witnessed a considerable increase in precipitation. Yesterday morning, the rainfall recorded at the dam site was 44 mm. However, today's readings show a remarkable surge, with 135 mm of rainfall recorded in the same area.

This sudden increase in water level is welcome news for Coimbatore residents, as it promises improved water supply in the coming days. The local water management authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure optimal utilization of this increased water resource.
