Firearm Training for Police Officers in Coimbatore

Coimbatore city police officers undergo 9mm pistol shooting training at the Police Training School ground on Avinashi Road on July 14, enhancing their firearm skills and readiness.


Coimbatore: A comprehensive firearm training session was conducted for Coimbatore city police officers on July 14 at the Police Training School ground on Avinashi Road. The training focused on 9mm pistol shooting, aiming to enhance the officers' skills and readiness.

Under the directives of Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, the training was organized at the Coimbatore Rifle Club. It involved police personnel ranging from Sub-Inspectors to Assistant Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from the Coimbatore City Police Department.



A total of 71 officers participated in the shooting practice, including 9 Assistant Commissioners/Superintendents of Police, 22 Inspectors, and 40 Sub-Inspectors. The training was comprehensive, covering various aspects of firearm handling and usage.



It's noteworthy that in the days leading up to the shooting practice, participants received training on crucial aspects such as stripping and assembling the firearm, loading and unloading procedures, target practice, cleaning and maintenance, and safety protocols. This holistic approach ensures that the officers are well-prepared and confident in handling their service weapons.
