Coimbatore: Members of the Dravidian Students Federation staged a protest near the South Taluk Office in Coimbatore on July 14, demanding the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions. The demonstration was part of ongoing protests against NEET by various political parties and organizations across the country.

Protesters, primarily students, wore black shirts to express their opposition to NEET. They held cartoon placards and raised slogans calling for the immediate cancellation of the medical entrance exam. The demonstrators criticized the conduct of NEET in Tamil Nadu, alleging that students are subjected to unfair practices under the guise of pre-exam checks.

The protesters accused the central government of discriminating against Tamil Nadu students. They claimed that while strict regulations are imposed on Tamil Nadu students, candidates in northern states face no such restrictions and can allegedly obtain question papers by paying large sums of money.

Criticizing the Modi government at the Centre, the demonstrators argued that the progress of Tamil Nadu's students and youth is being deliberately hindered. They alleged that the central government is threatened by Tamil Nadu's governance model and is working towards undermining the DMK-led state government.

The protest highlighted the ongoing controversy surrounding NEET in Tamil Nadu, where there has been strong opposition to the exam from various quarters, including the state government. The demonstrators reiterated their demand for the complete abolition of NEET in Tamil Nadu, citing concerns about fairness and equal opportunities for students from the state.
